Note on the disposal of old batteries

The following notice is aimed at those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form supplied to them (end users):

  • 1. Free return of used batteries Batteries may not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return old batteries so that professional disposal can be guaranteed. As a distributor of batteries, we are obliged to take back old batteries, whereby our obligation to take back is limited to old batteries of the type that we have or have had as new batteries in our range. You can either return old batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge directly to our shipping warehouse at the address given under "Legal information from the seller" .
  • 2. Meaning of the battery symbols
    Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed out wheelie bin.
    For batteries,

    containing more than 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury,
    more than 0.002% by mass of cadmium or
    contain more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead,

    below the garbage can symbol is the chemical name of the pollutant used - "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" stands for lead and "Hg" for mercury.

  • 3. Information on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol in Annex 3 to the ElektroG:

    Owners of old devices must collect them separately from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, does not belong in household waste. Rather, this old equipment must be collected separately, and old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old equipment must also be separated from the old equipment, for example via the local owners of old equipment, before they are handed over to a collection point. The latter does not apply if the old devices are separated from other old devices in accordance with § 14 paragraph 5 sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG as part of the opting by the public waste management authorities for the purpose of preparing them for reuse in order to prepare them for reuse.

    Owners can use the symbol in Annex 3 to the ElektroG to identify old devices that are to be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheeled bin and is designed as follows:

  • 4. Options for returning old devices
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (that is, equipment designed to operate on AC voltage not exceeding 1,000 volts or DC voltage not exceeding 1,500 volts, which depends on electrical currents or electromagnetic fields for its proper operation, or the generation, transmission and measurement of electrical currents and electromagnetic fields) must not be disposed of with normal household waste, but must be collected separately.

Old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device must be separated before they are handed over to a collection point as described below, unless the old devices are disposed of in accordance with Section 14, Paragraph 5, Clause 2, Clause 3 of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act as part of the opt-out by the public waste disposal authorities for the purpose of preparing for recycling are separated from other old devices in order to prepare them for recycling.

Old devices that are to be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste can be identified using the symbol in Annex 3 to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. The symbol represents a crossed-out wheeled bin.

For this purpose we have set up positions for you, under which you

  • Small devices that are no larger than 25 cm in any external dimension can be handed in free of charge even if you have not bought a new device,
  • You can hand in large appliances for disposal if you previously or at the same time bought or have bought a new electrical or electronic appliance of the same type that essentially has the same functions as the new appliance (example: you buy a new washing machine and can use your old washing machine instead hand over).

Please request a return slip in advance via the website of the recycling partner Interseroh. After checking, you will receive a voucher that you must present when handing in the old device. We will also take back your old device free of charge upon delivery of a new electrical device (of the same type) that you bought from https://stores.ebay.de/euronics-pelkmann and will dispose of it properly; In this case, however, you must inform us of your desire to dispose of an old device immediately after purchase at the latest. Please also note that the device must be freely accessible and disconnected from the power and water connections. Built-in devices must be removed. Defrost refrigerators and freezers beforehand; on a washing machine, remove all water (including from inlet hoses and the lint filter). Please pack the device securely for transport. If you buy an electrical device from us on site, you can also return your old device of the same type there free of charge. Old devices that are no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension can be returned there free of charge in normal household quantities even if you have not bought a new device. Of course, you can also return your old device to the municipal recycling depots. Opening hours can be found on the website of your municipality.

  • 5. Notice on the protection of your data
    Some of the old devices to be disposed of contain sensitive personal data (e.g. on a PC or a smartphone) that should not get into the hands of third parties.
  • We expressly point out that end users of old devices are responsible for deleting personal and sensitive data on the old devices to be disposed of.
